Can anyone tell me what digital camera to buy?

I need 7 to 8 mega pixels with 10x optical zoom and the rate of about $ 225. I suggest some cameras that fit this criteria. I have a confusion of what to buy (Canon, Sony, Nikon).

whatever you do, do not buy a Sony! They are horrible. Canon and Nikon both have some really good products now. my friend just got a new canon, which has no flash delay. impressive. my neighbor has a Nikon cool pix, you know that Ashton Kutcher is making ads, it seems pretty good too. not sure how much they cost. just do some research online, look in stores. Canon and Nikon are big manufactors. but Sony digi cameras are horrible!
