Ipod Touch 32Gb Beware!

Multi-Tasking and Hands-free headset and not available and "GPS" is ?

I like the iPod touch 32GB. Well worth the money.

I am a first time iTouch user. I find in general a great MP3 player with email and other fine capabilities! But three items I would like to comment on.

1) In sore need of "out of the box" Multi-Tasking capability. This would for example allow one to maintain a skype session while viewing emails.

2) Alas, it is NOT possible to combine the iPod touch 32GB with a Bluetooth hands-free headset or automotive calling system. For example you can not use your Jawbone or Moto headset to do a Skype call via the iTouch. Even though the iPhone uses the same Bluetooth chipset and OS, the Hands-Free Profile (HFP) and Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) are disabled on the iPod touch 32GB.

A touch with 3.1 firmware can only pair with Bluetooth devices using A2DP stereo, AVRCP remote control, and PAN profiles. In other words, you can listen to and control music through a Bluetooth headset, but you can't listen to or make phone calls through a Bluetooth headset as you can on an iPhone. This alone makes on-the-move calling far less convenient on an iPod touch 32GB.

Not sure why they would make this decision, very strange.

3) The iPod touch 32GB lacks real GPS, it can supply its location in populous areas using Wi-Fi triangulation--when it can reach Skyhook. What is skyhook? ... Skyhook developed the Wi-Fi Positioning System (WPS). Taking advantage of the hundreds of millions of Wi-Fi access points throughout populated areas, WPS consistently provides accurate location information indoors and in urban areas.

The only problem is that it counts on people providing information to the skyhook service, actual Longitude and Latitude position information is required. It is pretty much useless outside of a BIG city. GPS based Apps like Google Earth and Coffee Finder need a mobile 3G/Wi-Fi router to reach their full potential on an iPod touch 32GB.

Other than that this is a very fine piece of work !!!
