The invention of the iPod has opened up many other avenues that weren’t previously available for mobile audio. We can now carry 10,000’s of tracks around conveniently and effortlessly where previously the maximum would probably have been 100’s. The music market is now finding its feet with digital audio and can be downloaded easily and is always readily available.

The Car Audio market has taken advantage of the iPods success. You can now connect your iPod to your factory fitted headunit (stereo) and have a fully hardwired digital connection that you can control your ipod whilst it charges, giving you access to your favourite music whilst travelling.

The two ipod car kits brands that provide the best performance and consistency are Dension and Dice. Both offer a hardwired and an FM Modulated solution. The Hardwired solution connects directly into the back of your factory fitted headunit, replacing the CD Changer connection (when installed) each car manufacturer has different connections depending on the age of the vehicle. Full compatibility can be found inside the product information tab.

The FM Modulators are similar to the hardwired kits except they are hardwired to the aerial, which has its advantages & disadvantages. One the advantages of the FM Modulators are that it can connect to any standard European aerial this means you receive a near to digital quality signal which has much less distortion compared to the FM Transmitters (which are extremely poor) the main disadvantages are that the iPod cannot be controlled by the steering wheel controls.

Many Brands of iPod car kits are available however the majority are now hardwired, and don’t offer the same features as the Dension and Dice Kits.
