that is the best video capture software to download and use with the Sony DCR-HC30 digital camera video recorder?

My first husband unpacked the Handycam, and now I do not know what cables, software and manuals come with or how to transfer videos to my PC! Please Help!

the camcorder comes with USB cable and a CD-ROM containing the drivers (Picture Package Software v1.0). It should come with a computer application guide that explains in detail what I am saying here now. Once you find the CD-ROM and cable .. 1. install the software before connecting the camcorder to your computer. 2. 1 end of the cable to connect your computer's USB port .. the other end to the camcorder (it's on the side where you have the wrist strap. you have to lift the lid) 3. turn the camcorder 4. USB Power set to go to P-MENU> standard set> USB-PLY/EDT (if you want to transfer tapes) or USB-CAMERA (if you want to transfer in real time .. as for webcams). After establishing that, exit the menu 5. wait for the computer to recognize the camera and you're ready to transfer after this, you can use the packet capture software image to your videos. Personally, I do not use, because the features are very limited. you would be better to use Windows Movie Maker. it comes free with Windows XP. you did not mention if you're using a Mac ... If you are, USB will not work. you need to buy a FireWire cable from the camera and then use iMovie to capture. hope that helps.
