How many pixels have a digital camera should be equivalent to a good 35mm film camera?

I want to make big impressions images. With the roll of film in a 35mm camera I'm happy going to 30 "x40". Assuming that the lenses, etc. are the same in the digital camera and one roll film, how many pixels will give the same definition?

I think it's worth it to reach otherwise. To print a 30 "x40" poster at 300dpi, have a resolution of 108Mp. It is calculated as (30x300) x (40x300) = 108x10 ^ 6. If you are willing to reduce the resolution 200 dpi printing, have 48mp. To get an impression of this size, it is probably reasonable to use this print resolution lesser extent than viewers must be a certain distance. scanned at 9600 dpi, 35 mm film will 123MP. The movie is an analog storage mechanism and if this is realistic, is an entirely different matter. However, there seems little point in making 9600dpi scanners if there real quality benefits is not made in exploration in this film higher resolution. That said, I agree with the comment that this is quite a large extension of 35 mm. For most of the films consumers will not receive anything like the equivalent of 48mp, and the suggestion that around 25MP is possible it might even be a stretch. In this resolution, that would be effective only in the print on 150dpi if enlarged to 30 "x 40". (Note that I have done exactly this last calculation).
