Canon Digital Camera S400
I have a Canon S400 Digital Elph camera. Outdoor night photos are too dark. What should I do?
The user manual explains how to adjust ISO speed and exposure compensation, etc., but not specifically to those who make my problem.
The first thing you must understand is the flash is very limited extent with nothing to bounce off. Indoors has walls and ceilings that reflect and bounce light. Out of which must appear in 10 feet of a correct exposure. Light drops very quickly and in a very short distance. Mathmatatical there a formula for that, but I can not remember. Just realize that only a few feet away will very underexposed and almost black. Built in flashes at any camera has this limitation. For more than that, buy a separate flash unit and use the take photos outside. Even with limitations, but will more than double the distance between the integrated flash. Norm
